The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a new approach, which is being introduced in Pakistan to recognize and certify the competency and skills of millions of skilled workers coming out of informal TVET sector known as Ustad-Shagrid system.
These skilled work force have not received any formal education but are yet competitive due to the learned skills and are performing excellent jobs in technical sector of the country.
RPL is the process of recognition of the skilled youth that inspects evidence of past experience and learning of workers then certify their skills.
Presently, RPL is a main focus in TVET Sector to facilitate specially those people who does not have any formal education and still they are contributing a part in economy.
Under RPL those skilled youth are certified through practical examination and are awarded with certificates.
Sukkur IBA University with mission to serve community had decided to launch RPL in 2018 in collaboration with GIZ, Trade Testing Board (TTB) and NAVTTC to recognized the untapped youth of the country through RPL process so that they can get an equal opportunity in local and international job market.
The first RPL Programme was started for General Electrician Trade to facilitate the skilled workforces in the field of general electrician to get their skills renowned so that they may get access to good job opportunities nationally and internationally.
